Consider how much light your kitchen space gets. Are there lots of windows? Does light get in from surrounding rooms? If there's not much light you need to think about how you can add more. Any kitchen design lives or dies by the lighting. A properly lit kitchen feels warm, spacious and inviting. A poorly lit kitchen is cold, dim and boring.
As far as the ceiling is concerned, you can try hanging your pots and pans by their handles from thick wooden beams attached to the ceiling. Candle holders, flower vases, small lampshade, tablecloths for the kitchen table, baskets full of fresh fruits and indoor plants are some additional accents which can add glamor to your kitchen room. The kitchen ideas that you, your consultants and advisors will think of can only be limited by the imagination. Whatever final budget you have for your kitchen project, just remember the principles behind the ideas and concepts!
Knowing what you want to change or add to your existing kitchen is a great place to start. If there is a budget in place, don't let it stop you from looking at all the possibilities that appeal to you, as many plans can be modified to fit into any budget.
